Construction Phase & CDM

As your project enters the construction phase, CDM (construction design and management) regulations ensure health, safety, and welfare standards are met.

What is CDM?

Introduced in 2015, CDM sets out health and safety responsibilities for construction projects. While the Building Contractor handles most duties, both you and our team retain responsibilities.

As the building owner, your primary duties include:

  • Select A Competent Contractor: it’s your responsibility to check that your chosen contractor has the necessary qualifications, experience and insurance to complete the works.
  • Check Health and Safety Measures Are In Place: you need to make sure that your contractors are taking the required steps to keep workers safe. This includes checking that risk assessments and safe working practices are in place.
  • Notify the Health & Safety Executive If Required: For construction projects expected to last more than 30 working days with more than 20 workers, or exceeding 500 person-days, the Health and Safety Executive must be notified.
  • Keep Copies Of Key Documents: While health and safety plans, risk assessments and other necessary documentation is filled out by the Building Contractor, you need to hold copies to make sure they have been completed.

How we help you with the Construction Phase & CDM regulations

We prepare and manage necessary health and safety documents, advise on contractors, and guide you through compliance.

Our experienced team will be on hand to help you stay compliant with CDM regulations. We can advise on and recommend competent building contractors and guide you on which documents you need to keep on file.

What happens next?

With CDM checks complete, construction work can begin.
