Completion and Handover

The final stage of the journey: completion and handover. Voigt Architects help you inspects the construction work before signing it off as complete.

What are the final things left to do?

We remain part of the journey even after you’ve got the keys to your completed building. During the completion and handover process, the space is ready to go but we just have a few final checks to complete.

Complete snagging and defects resolution

Before we hand over the keys, we’ll assist with ‘snagging’. This is a thorough inspection of the building to identify any issues or defects with the construction works. Anything we find should be swiftly resolved and rectified by the Contractor.

Building control sign-off and final inspections

We’ll guide you through the process of obtaining a Completion Certificate. A Building Control Officer will conduct a thorough on-site inspection to ensure the property meets all building standards. This final check confirms that the work is complete and ready to be officially certified.

The rectification period

The final part of the completion and handover process is the rectification period. Even after you’ve started putting the new space to good use, we keep in contact with your Building Contractor for up to 12 months.

And that’s it, it’s all yours

After a long and satisfying journey of dreaming, visualising, planning, designing, constructing and adding the finishing touches, your project is finished ready to go.

At Voigt Architects, we remain engaged throughout every stage of the process. We provide clear, transparent communication and timely delivery of detailed design work, ensuring your bespoke project is brought to life exactly as you envision.
