An ambitious Masterplan has been prepared for the potential redevelopment of Arbroath, incorporating ideas to radically improve the town. The plans incorporate moving Gayfield park and doing away with the Abbeygate car park to create a European style central plaza.
Measures have also been included to open up the seafront, extend Kerr’s miniature railway and create an indoor leisure beach to attract tourists as well as landscaping the main route in Arbroath by incorporating artwork at key points. Areas would be designated for leisure and commercial space, car parking, open spaces and residential developments, and more would be made of links to the Signal Tower Museum and the Bell Rock lighthouse, which recently celebrated its bicentenary.
It is hoped these plans will be provide ideas to take Arbroath forward through the local development plan process in partnership with the local council.
