HOUSING MASTERPLAN FOR EXPANSION OF ANGUS VILLAGE

Housing Masterplan, Dundee

Client: DJ Laing Homes

Location: Barry, Carnoustie

Status: Due for Completion 2023

Aerial map of a park area divided into sections A, B, and C with a red outline and labeled streets Berwick Drive, Aberlady Crescent, and Duns Crescent.

The site is located by the Angus village of Barry, on the North-western fringe of Carnoustie. The development has excellent access to the A92 dual carriageway and is located on one of the 3 main routes into Carnoustie with easy access to Dundee, Arbroath, Monifieth and Carnoustie.

The Masterplan includes 57 units, offering a selection of house types and tenures. Key to the Masterplan was creating a central greenspace which would be overlooked by properties, promoting communal use and safety.

The development provides 6no. different House Types across Private and Affordable Housing including detached, semidetached and bungalow. The properties range from 2 to 5 bedroom. The streetscape has been designed to provide a range of single and 1.5 storey house types, arranged to form a well-spaced out and sympathetic development frontage.

Strategic planting, including hedging and small trees help embed the housing development into the existing environment. The properties will be finished in white smooth render, feature grey stone and grey/black concrete tiles. The minimal material palette is typical of surrounding buildings and in particular the existing Farmhouse.
